The catalogue contains texts by Laura Cottingham, Francoise Leperlier, Peter Weibel and Dirk Snauwaert. The show was also held at the Neue Gallerie in Graz, Swizerland from oct. 4-Dec. 3, 1997 and at the Museum Folkwang in Essen, Germany from Jan. 18-Mar. 8, 1998.

The exhibition mainly explores the resonance of gay and lesbian experience in 20th century American Art, featuring works by various artists, both homosexual and non-homosexual, without specifying sexual orientations. The show is divided into titled groups, each containing works from a variety of historical periods.
